BCB recuerda que está prohibido el uso de criptoactivos en el país

El asesor de Política Económica del Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB), Sergio Cerezo, recordó este lunes que el ente emisor prohíbe el uso de criptoactivos en el país, por lo que se recomienda a la población no usarlos para evitar estafas. 

“Desde el Banco Central recomendamos que la población que no se arriesgue, no use estos criptoactivos (porque) puede ser sujeto a estafas y perder su dinero en el ejercicio de esto”, exhortó Cerezo en contacto con Red Uno.

El Asesor de Política Económica explicó que los criptoactivos son monedas digitales que son generadas por entidades privadas de forma anónima y descentralizada, lo cual no está permitido en el país.

“Advertir a la población boliviana de que estos criptoactivos no están respaldados por el Banco Central de Bolivia ni por la Autoridad de Supervisión del Sistema Financiero (ASFI)”, señaló el experto. 

Sostuvo que, en el marco de la Constitución Política del Estado y la Ley 1670, una de las atribuciones del BCB es que se constituye en la única entidad del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia que puede establecer la moneda de curso legal. 

“Si alguien le está diciendo que vía sistema financiero va a adquirir criptoactivos le está mintiendo, no se arriesgaría la entidad financiera a hacerlo porque existe normativa que respalda esa prohibición”, señaló. 

Acotó que en Bolivia y otros países se escuchó que la vía que se utiliza para usar criptoactivos son los medios digitales, con los que se debe tener cuidado debido a que daría curso a actividades especulativas. 

“Inducen a que las personas puedan emplear algunos recursos en estos medios digitales, pero ahí queremos ser bien claros, el BCB en su normativa prohíbe a todo el sistema financiero hacer uso de los medios de pago electrónicos validados para la transacción con este tipo de medios digitales”, señaló.
