Tras el rechazo de la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI) de investigar a Evo Morales y otros dirigentes por crímenes de lesa humanidad, la bancada del Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) anunció que presentará una demanda penal por injuria y calumnia contra el exprocurador del régimen de Jeanine Áñez, José María Cabrera.
“Como víctimas, vamos a presentar una demanda penal en contra del señor José María Cabrera, procurador en ese tiempo, por injuria y calumnia, porque no puede mentir a la comunidad internacional, no pueden engañar a la comunidad internacional. Así que ténganlo por seguro, el pueblo boliviano, las víctimas, demandados ante esta corte, vamos a iniciar inmediatamente un proceso penal en contra de las autoridades de entonces”, ratificó el jefe de la bancada del MAS en Senado, Leonardo Loza.
El 4 de septiembre de 2020, el entonces procurador General del Estado, José María Cabrera, se constituyó ante la CPI para interponer una denuncia en contra del expresidente Evo Morales y los organizadores del bloqueo de carreteras, acusándolos por delitos de lesa humanidad por impedir, durante su campaña de 12 días, la llegada de suministros médicos a hospitales.
El fiscal jefe de la CPI, Karim Khan, comunicó que no se abriría una investigación formal ya que los supuestos actos no eran competencia del tribunal.
“La verdad se impone ante la falsedad, la verdad siempre llega, no solo en Bolivia, sino a nivel de la comunidad internacional, este rechazo es un rotundo fracaso de la derecha boliviana, este rechazo inclusive confirma la dictadura de nuestro país del 2019 – 2020, por lo tanto, no podemos seguir siendo difamados”, manifestó Loza.
Asimismo, adelantó que la demanda penal por injuria y calumnia se ampliará a otras autoridades del régimen de facto, ya que aseguró que la orden directa vino de Jeanine Áñez.
“Así que ténganlo por seguro, las víctimas, demandados ante esta corte, vamos a iniciar inmediatamente un proceso penal en contra de las autoridades de entonces, que estamos seguros también, esto ha sido una decisión política de la dictadura para descabezar a los movimientos sociales que en ese momento hemos reclamado nuestros derechos”, acotó.
