El exjefe de Gabinete y hombre de confianza del exministro de Gobierno, Rodrigo Méndez fue detenido por el FBI, el 21 de mayo, tras destaparse un presunto sobreprecio de más de Bs 14 millones ($us 2 millones) en la compra de gases lacrimógenos y otro material antidisturbios, en los que estaría implicado Rodrigo Méndez, el exjefe de Gabinete del ministerio de Gobierno y hombre de confianza de Arturo Murillo, según el FBI.
La agencia federal estadounidense pinchó teléfonos, intervino correos electrónicos y mensajes de WhatsApp, además de datos de movimientos bancarios hasta que logró determinar la vinculación de Méndez con el lavado de dineros y sobornos mediante una empresa.
“La orden de apremio ejecutada contra Méndez fue por corrupción y lavado de dinero en la compra de gases lacrimógenos”, señala el documento del FBI.
